Effective date: February 14, 2025
Parent Projects™ (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the https://parentprojects.com/ website (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”).
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this SMS Consent & Compliance Policy, the terms used in this policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, accessible from https://parentprojects.com/terms-conditions-of-use/
Purpose
At Parent Projects, we are committed to respecting customer preferences and ensuring compliance with carrier regulations, including CTIA guidelines, when sending SMS communications. This policy outlines the procedures our team follows to obtain explicit consent, manage opt-ins and opt-outs, and maintain compliance with SMS best practices.
Scope
This policy applies to all Parent Projects employees, partners, and systems that facilitate SMS communications with customers, business members, and affiliates.
1. Obtaining Explicit Consent.
Parent Projects requires all customers and business members to provide clear, written consent before receiving SMS messages.
How We Obtain Consent:
• Consent must be obtained through an explicit opt-in process—we do not assume consent or use pre-checked boxes.
• Customers provide consent through:
• Website Sign-Up Forms (e.g., account creation, event registrations, webinar sign-ups).
• Business Member Registration Forms (e.g., onboarding process).
• Manual Checkboxes (e.g., opt-in checkboxes that are unchecked by default).
• Opt-in message must include:
• Parent Projects brand name
• Purpose of SMS messages
• Message frequency disclosure
• Messaging & data rates disclaimer
• Opt-out instructions (Reply STOP)
• HELP instructions with support contact information
Example Opt-In Consent Language:
“I agree to receive promotional messages, alerts, and updates from Parent Projects via SMS. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. HELP for support. Terms & Privacy Policy.”
2. Sending Opt-In Confirmation Messages
After a customer opts in, Parent Projects sends an automated confirmation message immediately, ensuring the recipient understands their subscription.
Example Confirmation SMS:
“Welcome to Parent Projects alerts! You’ll receive updates and offers. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for support or STOP to opt out.”
3. Providing Opt-Out Options
Customers must have an easy and immediate way to opt out of SMS messages at any time.
Opt-Out Process:
• All SMS messages must include clear opt-out instructions (e.g., “Reply STOP to unsubscribe”).
• When a customer replies with STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT, they must be removed from future SMS communications immediately.
• After opting out, the customer must receive a final confirmation message ensuring no further messages will be sent.
Example Opt-Out Message:
“You have unsubscribed from Parent Projects alerts. No further messages will be sent. Reply HELP for support.”
4. Managing HELP Requests
Customers can request assistance via SMS by replying with HELP at any time.
HELP Message Requirements:
• Must include Parent Projects brand name
• Must provide a support contact method (email, website, or phone)
Example HELP Message:
“Parent Projects Support: Need help? Contact us at support@parentprojects.com or visit parentprojects.com/support. Reply STOP to opt out.”
5. Maintaining Consent Records
To ensure compliance and protect against disputes, Parent Projects will maintain detailed records of all SMS opt-ins, including:
• Timestamp of opt-in
• IP address (if collected online)
• Method of opt-in (web form, event sign-up, etc.)
• Confirmation message logs
These records will be securely stored and accessible for compliance verification if needed.
6. Periodic Audits & Compliance Reviews
Parent Projects will regularly audit SMS practices to ensure compliance with CTIA guidelines and carrier policies. This includes:
• Quarterly reviews of SMS opt-in/opt-out processes
• Ensuring all marketing messages follow best practices
• Updating consent language as required by regulatory changes
7. Employee & Partner Compliance Responsibilities
All Parent Projects employees and business partners must:
• Follow this policy when sending SMS communications
• Only message users who have explicitly opted in
• Ensure opt-out requests are honored immediately
• Use only approved SMS templates that meet compliance requirements
Failure to adhere to this policy may result in access restrictions, corrective action, or termination of SMS privileges for employees or partners.
